Loch Achray

This was a nice little church on the Loch.We couldn't get in but it was a wonderful location. Loch Achray was a nice loch about half an hour from Stirling in an area known as the Trossachs. We went there hunting down Monty Python filming locations. There's one in an abandoned Victorian quarry about three miles from this spot.

The graveyard was filled with a lot of World War I gravestones. Apparently whichever town this church belonged to contributed a lot of men to the war effort.

This is the quarry where they filmed Monty Python. It's an interesting place, and quite abandoned. The rocks are all slate so climbing around is tricky. It's a nice place to visit whether you like the movie or not. It's an isolated place in the middle of the Trossachs (an isolated place to begin with) so going alone is not advised. Still, we did run into someone walking their dog there so it isn't completely unknown.

This was the only site we could identify, and even there it's from the wrong angle. Undoubtedly the hills have eroded greatly over the years but that's definitely the same peak where Tim the Enchanter stood.
