Salisbury

Salisbury seems like a nice place. Our group stayed there overnight after doing Glastonbury. We only had that evening and the following morning (before 9) to see the city. After that they hustled us into the bus and moved on. The market square was absolutely dead when we arrived at around 7. Apparently this place is usually a bustle of activity but on Saturday evening and Sunday morning none of that was evident. It had a number of stores that would have been worth going into had they been open and the people manning the pub were friendly and served good food.

Salisbury Cathedral is very nice. I've gotten a little bit sick of cathedrals after seeing so many but this one still remains a decent example. It was more artistically focused than the others. There were works of art scattered around and everything looked much newer and untouched. Salisbury must be an artistic community because there were many works of modern art around the area.

Some of them are beautiful if confusing like this painted statue of a man lying on his back. Some were hideous like the Madonna with child. It looks like a zombie.

Inside is also filled with artwork including fountains and sculptures. Photography is not allowed so I only took a few shots. The stained glass is Elizabethan or later and it shows, but they are still beautiful.
