Pisa

This trip was to be the final and biggest of all the ones  made this year. I spent all semester planning for and organizing and preparing for it. I was going to go to the three main counties for Roman enthusiasts and see the sites with friends whom I made while in England. It did not go as well as would be liked although I was able to salvage a lot of good memories out of it.

The trip started off well. We arrived in Pisa at around 9 PM. We found our hostel easily and it was right next to the train station which was good since we had a 5:39 train to the next stage in our journey. Since we got there at night we decided that we should take a quick look at the tower and then go to bed. Probably the best plan we could make. To get to the tower we had to cross over to the north side of the river.

The river itself was very well illuminated and beautiful. I suspect I would have liked to see Pisa in the day. To be honest, the only reason we flew there at all was because they had the cheapest flights. On the way to the tower we stopped at a pizza place that was open late where we had pizza in Pisa, a feat worthy of mention.

The tower itself is part of a big square with a church attacked. If my information on this city is rather vague it is because we spent no more than a couple hours there and most of that was spent in getting to the place. Approaching it from where we did we went past the other buildings before we reached the tower.

To be honest, the tower itself isn't that impressive. It's a leaning tower. That's it. It's only a marvel because it's a mistake. A poor design job. If it had been a success then nobody would visit it.
